Born and raised in the Bronx, DJ Ace Vedo was surrounded by music from the beginning. The musically talented Acevedo family consisted of her father on guitar and harmonica, her brother (also on guitar), and her mother on the maracas. The sultry sounds of salsa, merengue, hip-hop and r&b beat against the windows, filling her house with the sounds she wanted to share with the world. So, she did. Sitting in her room sketching, she turned her speakers to the street, so everyone could enjoy the beat. In 2005, While attending school for design, she met the man who would become her best friend, Mike. He would also inspire the creation of DJ Ace Vedo. After losing touch when college was over, they ran into each other years later when Ace was on a trip to New York. Their reunion was serendipitous. Mike, was now known as Mike Larry Draw, an up and coming hip-hop artist, and he needed a place to stay. Ace opened up her home and they seized the moment. While in Tampa Mike Larry Draw encouraged Ace to sign up for open mics because he saw the talent in both her writing and musical ability. Timid when it came to jumping on the mic, DJ Ace Vedo was born when she became the DJ at his shows, and his regular appearance on “Spit Fire Thursdays.” Her confidence grew and she ventured out on her own, spreading the music she loves so much. Mike moved back to NY to pursue his career. DJ Ace Vedo is now an up and coming female DJ working at venues like, Southern Nights TAMPA, Coyote Ugly Tampa, and Cocktail St Pete. As the beat continues to ring in our ears and pound in our chests, DJ Ace Vedo pounds the streets, bringing the sound to Tampa.
